On this website I use the terms "us" and "we", but Phoenix cycles is really a one man show. I am the head mechanic, lead designer, painter, metal fabricator and owner all rolled into one. I started into this business by saving one forgotten CB160 in a friend's garage with the motor in a basket. A true "basket case" brought back to life one piece at a time. I found there were so many other old Hondas put into corners of garages, tucked into sheds and left behind needing to be revived and ready to "rise from the ashes". I am drawn to the most difficult cases, where the bike is rusty, dirty, neglected and off the road for years. The bike I call Carmen on the home page of this website is the perfect example of the bikes I am trying to save.
I run Phoenix Cycles from a shop at my home in Rochester, New York. I have a small paint booth and all the tools needed to bring these bikes back to life. Each bike speaks to me and tells me what she wants to become. Some bikes want to be shiny and new with fresh paint and polished chrome. Other bikes just want to be back on the road and keep the patina they have worked so hard to perfect. So whether it is sandblasting and painting or simply wet sanding and preserving the rust, each bike is going back on the road to be enjoyed again.
